Uttaranchal University was established in 2013 when the Uttaranchal University was established. It was formed by the merger of three institutes. They include Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Law College Dehradun as well as Uttaranchal Institute of Technology. Uttaranchal University encourages the students by offering them scholarships in diverse ways

Merit scholarship: this merit scholarship is awarded to students who have scored high in both the 12th and 10th examinations.

Uttarakhand State Domicile Scholarship 26% of the scholarship is granted to students of Uttarakhand home as well as 40% of seats are reserved for students in all courses offered by the university.

Hill States Domicile Scholarship: 15% of the scholarship is offered to students from the Hindi States of India which are Jammu as well as Kashmir, Ladakh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Darjeeling, and Siliguri.
